Conquering Fear, Taking Responsibility, and Finding Inner Peace
Hi friends, Welcome to this week's issue of the weekly newsletter, which comes after a long break. We all know how it feels to be afraid, anxious, and experiencing stress.
Let's imagine you are in a meeting room with colleagues and some of your higher management people.
Everything is perfect except for the time when they ask you to share your thoughts or someone points out that you should share something. You feel uncomfortable, your palms get sweaty sometimes, and words are stuck in your throat. Not normal. But why do you feel that way? It's crucial to understand how our enemy operates.
DECIDE
Everyone, including you and me, wants to achieve something, but most of the time fear stops us from achieving it.
Fear once served as our protector, nowadays, fear turns into our enemy. When you and I run into a roadblock, we just quit. We think that achieving greatness is reserved for a few, but people who achieve it decide that they can. It's not a lack of resources that's holding us back, but a lack of confidence.
“Fear defeats more people than any other thing in the world.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
Let's have the courage to win our inner battle. You're selling yourself short when you think it’s impossible. And everything is a skill we can learn. Even though we should defeat our inner enemy, it's true that life is not a fear-free existence, so making progress while facing fears. It's a never-ending process.
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
Taking responsibility refers to acknowledging your role in your actions, decisions, and circumstances.
It's about recognizing that you have control over your choices and behaviors and that your actions have consequences. By embracing responsibility, you empower yourself to make positive changes, learn from mistakes, and actively shape your life's direction.
“Is your cucumber bitter? Throw it away. Are there briars in your path? Turn aside. That is enough.”
— Marcus Aurelius (Roman Emperor from 161 to 180 and philosopher), Book: Meditations
This mindset encourages personal growth, accountability, and a proactive approach to challenges. Do one of the three things next time you encounter a situation that does not make you happy.
Change the Situation.
Leave the Situation.
Continue, but Stop Complaining.
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOU CANNOT CONTROL
This principle emphasizes the futility of worrying over aspects of life that are beyond your control.
It encourages focusing your energy and attention on things you can impact, allowing you to maintain a sense of inner peace and reduce unnecessary stress. By letting go of worries about uncontrollable external factors, you free yourself to concentrate on making constructive choices and dealing with situations that are within your sphere of influence.
That’s all from my side, Happy weekend, and see you next week!
